Wicked Appetite
by Janet Evanovich
Wow. I was expecting this book to be good... Unfortunately, all the characters were one-dimensional, and the plot was never clearly defined. It's based on the seven deadly sins, and this book was centered on gluttony. The different aspects of gluttony were never addressed, nor were why the "bad guy" was so bad. The "magic" is never fully explained, just "some people" are "enhanced". It makes it sound as though it's a talent that some people are born with, like some people are good at sports, and others math. The "romantic tension" between Lizzy and Diesel isn't very thick. She finally admits she's attracted to him, and he makes inappropriate remarks about bedding her, BUT then he decides to tell her that if they do have sex, one, the other or both of them could lose their "enhancements". Then, there's the possibility of rape. The main character feels incredibly violated, and no one thinks twice about it, just dismisses it and encourage her to move on with trying to find these stone things. *sigh* I will not be continuing this series. I'm quite disappointed.
