City of Bones
by Cassandra Clare
Is it sad that I just read this for the first time?
I had to see what all the hype was about, so I finally decided to read my first Cassandra Clare book. Like usual, I've been missing out so much by not reading this sooner!
The shadowhunter world is so fascinating to me, and I haven't read anything else like it.
Besides all of the action in this story, the characters are what really set this book apart.
Simon is so sarcastic and lovable. I felt really bad for him at times when Clary was so oblivious to him and his feelings.
Clary was a fun protagonist to follow, and I enjoyed reading from her point of view.
Jace was my favorite character because he was so loyal and protective of his friends. I also found him quite charming at times even though he was cocky.
Even the side characters in this story were interesting.
I went into this book without knowing much, so the ending was surprising to me. It made me want to immediately pick up the next book.
