Dance Dance Dance
by Haruki Murakami
I chose this boo for book club this past time and I am still glad I did. I read this book the first time over 6 years ago and fell in love with it. It was my first introduction into the world of Haruki Murakami and I was head over heels in love.
This book is like nothing I've ever read before. I loved how it switches from mysticism, magical realism, and the mundane everyday life. I also love how this book challenges my perspective of Japan.
This book read like film noir to me. It's one of the few books that's meandering that I love. I could relate to the narrator and his line of thinking. I loved the strange relationships he develops. His relationship with Yuki, a 13 year old girl is odd, some times paternal, sometimes brotherly, but still felt weird.
This book is one of my favorite books of all time and it introduced me to his crazy world. I'm glad I read this and look forward to reading more of his.
