With Teeth by Kristen Arnett
4.0

Building off the unsettling, but poignant iciness of her debut, Mostly Dead Things, Kristen Arnett's With Teeth is an honest, sometimes-too-honest examination of queerness, motherhood, marriage, and the complicated relationship they each have to one another. What Arnett's writing lacks in subtlety, it makes up for in stickiness –– I keep finding its observations sneaking up on me. With Teeth is physical in every way, forcing the reader to sink their teeth in. And it bites right back.
