This book really grew on me! To start with, I thought the writing too mechanical and a little boring but the characters reached out and hooked me in and I couldn't finish it quick enough. The plot was engaging and well paced, while the setting in small-town America gave a gorgeous, almost nostalgic, atmosphere. The characterization in general in this book this was superb, but the two main brothers and their father in particular were interesting and lovable. Each character had a story and was important to the book, and I liked so many of them for so many reasons!

The ending was satisfying and made sense. I could have done without the religion sprinkled throughout, but I suppose it makes sense for the setting.
