One-Timer

I’ve loved all the stories in this series so far and this one was just as good in its own way! And something that I really liked was how we definitely got the set up for the next book woven throughout the story as well. It was great getting some time with our two couples from the first two books, Puck Shy and Blind Pass. In fact this story starts out at Harper and Collin’s wedding. Our main character is Hollis, Harper’s sister. She has what is supposed to be a one time thing the night of the wedding with Cameron Lowell, one of the Carolina Comets hockey players. Unfortunately, it turns out she ends up pregnant, and now that she’s moved to town where her sister lives, she has to face Cameron, and let him know. Now, of course he is a bit of a jerk at first when she tells him. First of all that’s easily expected as he is a professional hockey player who has probably to worry about that all the time, secondly because he actually came close to marrying a woman who faked a pregnancy.
However he had been all in with that ex, so excited about being a dad, so once he gets over his initial douchiness in how he behaves with Hollis, he is once again all in. You know that he’s going to be a great dad. Of course there are some bumps along the way, as well as a lot of laughs as I’ve come to expect from anything I read by this author. One of my favorite parts is when there are the different stages of the baby growing inside a mom, and at one point they compare the size to that of an average sized penis. Lol. Not to mention when the doctor tells Hollis how big her cervix is, and Lowell has to mention that’s the exact size of his own member. lol
While I knew there would be some big issue at the end, the darkest night bit, that we all know is coming, I feel like Lowell’s attitude kind of came out of nowhere. There didn’t seem to really be an instigating moment for it. The winning her back part though, that was perfect. And other than that tiny detail, I loved all of this story.
I know the next book isn’t for Miller, but I sure hope Miller gets a book and an HEA some day. He may just be a rookie as they tease him, but he makes me smile!
