3.5 stars - A truly epic tale, and only the beginning. Ultimately, this is a story filled with the truth and atrocities of war, told by a protagonist who is sure in her convictions but losing herself to a madness she may not be able to control. I'm interested to see where the next book in this series takes the story, but definitely need a break before jumping in - Book One was A LOT.
