Under Rose-Tainted Skies
by Louise Gornall
3.75 stars, if we're getting picky
quick thoughts:
• The agoraphobia, anxiety, and OCD rep was incredible. My copy is riddled with post-it notes and annotations.
• The lack of a cure-all romance was icing on the cake.
• Honestly, all of the agoraphobic #ownvoices reviews have me smiling. I love how much this story connected with people.
• A positive portrayal of therapy that still conveyed the complexities of recovery.
• Healthy mother-daughter relationships that were central to the story.
• An adorable, sweet love interest who was genuinely lovely. He had realistic flaws, not quite knowing what to say but trying his goddamn hardest to be a good friend to Norah.
• The non-ending really dampened my enjoyment, though. There was no character arc or climax or… anything. I needed more.
• Gornall’s style was a little more… juvenile, I guess, than I expected. It was slightly off-putting.
➸ Trigger warnings forableism & ableist language, attempted sexual assault, ocd, anxiety, agorahpobia, panic attacks (op) self harm (op), blood & minor physical injuries, and home invasion .
▷ Representation: Norah (mc) has agoraphobia, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive disorder; Luke (li)'s father has depression.
