This book is about two girls living in Brooklyn, connected by a secret that neither of them knows. Fate brings them together and fire breaks out. I liked learning about new folklore to me. I also liked that the book deals with issues of denying people their heritage and being an undocumented immigrant. It also deals with knowing that it's tricky sometimes to label things good or bad: sometimes they just are. A thought-provoking quick read.
