I don't generally take the time to post actual reviews, unless a book really strikes a chord in me - either positively or negatively.

This one very much did -- in the most positive way possible.

When I started and was about 15% in, I wrote some friends that I felt like this could have been the Grishaverse IF Leigh Bardugo had decided to go mega-dark from the jump (which probably would have made me like that series more than I did), and that I was really liking it so far.

I read the book over a couple of days because work 🙄, but I was eagerly turning each page because I needed to see what happened next.

It was tense in the best way, and though I know it was based on the Little Mermaid, this is NOT the Disney version, so I adored it even more. This was also YA, so no sexy-time, but there was a subplot that ended up being very swoony.

I loved this book. If you are looking for a dark, well-written, fairytale fantasy, then this will likely be the book for you. 😍
