Avery is an excellent heroine: troubled, trapped, fiercely brave, strong-willed. She may suffer from insta-love, but I forgive her because by the end of the story I understood why. The characters in this tale are marvelously drawn and unexpected -- a Pacific Islander love interest? Don't mind if I do.

I loved the tension and the drama and the small town struggles. Would highly recommend to fans of the sea, curses, family, and destiny.
