Eidolon by Grace Draven
4.0

The Kai Queen Secmis, no longer content with her power, unleashes demons upon the world to do her bidding. These demons, however, do their own bidding and kill her and the rest of the royal family residing in Haradis. As the only surviving member of the royal family, Brishen rises to the King of a kingdom facing tragedy.

"The prince of no value has become the most coveted Kai in all of Bast-Haradis."

As Brishen plans to save his kingdom, it is Ildiko who realizes what she loves most is slipping away. To fight the demons, Brishen must lead an army of the dead. But if he returns, as King he will be expected to produce an heir, something that she as a human cannot provide to a Kai.

"Privilege gives the crown its shine. Duty gives it its weight."

Eidolon is action packed from beginning to end! While we get more romantic moments with our favorite couple, we get hard moments for them too. Both see their duty to the kingdom, but in different ways and in how much they are willing to sacrifice.
