paddlefoot55 's review for:
Start Me Up
by Nicole McLaughlin, Nicole Michaels
3.5 cute stars
Copy received from St Martin's Press via Netgalley for an honest review.
Nicole Michaels is a new-to-me author, and Start Me Up is a cute, if not predictable romance.
Single mum Anne meets sexy mechanic Mike and true love ensues.
While there is nothing new to this story line - boy meets, girl, boy likes girl, boy and girl fall in love, misunderstanding, breakup, boy gets girl back again - I did enjoy it.
At times Anne did annoy me - she was always on about being a mature woman, but she acted so childish at times, I just had to roll my eyes at her antics
Mike is typical alpha going after what he wants, and I think he really makes this book for me.
There are some great secondary characters, especially Anne's friend Callie and her mother Marie.
This is the first in the Hearts and Crafts series, but it is a stand alone.
There are two more books in this series, about Anne's friends Callie and Lindsay, and I will read them when they come out.
