I wanted to like this book way more than I did.
What I loved:
Others who are more qualified than me stated that this is had to be a back story. I love it because it’s so unapologetic in its blackness. The deep dive into microaggressions was insightful, and I liked the characters.
What I didn’t like:
The ending—more specifically the epilogue.
It also was a bit confusing at times and the pacing seemed a bit off. Also, some character motivations were unexplained or underdeveloped.
