At over six feet myself, feeling small and delicate was a moment to treasure. Bear always managed to make it happen though. I always felt like a proper little around him.

ARC review

I could tell what this book wanted to be, but it didn’t quite hit it, unfortunately. It was mainly negatively affected by a serious lack of consistency in plot details as well as the fact that it didn’t seem like Owen actually wanted to be with Barrett for large parts of the book. We keep hearing about how they have been best friends for 10+ years and have been in love and pining all that time, but they seem to barely know each other, and Owen doesn’t trust Barrett. By the end I’m not sure I wanted them to be together as they seemed to have incompatible personalities.

Some of the plot was cute and it could’ve been really good if simplified and shortened, but things kept being added and it felt very contrived. They have sex at 19% and we don’t learn that they’re actually officially a couple until the epilogue at 94%, and all that time in between Owen keeps repeating the same internal thoughts about how they are incompatible (they clearly aren’t, it’s just conveniently ignored for the sake of drama), which could’ve been cleared up with communication.

This feels really negative now, but it’s always a shame when it’s nearly really good. So much of the book builds on the fact that these guys are best friends, but they genuinely don’t feel like it, which then affects absolutely everything.

Also, a main character micromanaging someone else to the degree that is mentioned in the book is not endearing or fun. It’s a big red flag.

This is still what I’d call a baby author so I fully expect many of these things (including editing) to improve with time. You can tell that the ideas and bones for something really good is there.

The age play and play dates with the other Littles was adorable and I enjoyed the focus on Owen struggling with his own regression and the development of him getting comfortable with Barrett and his friends. I always enjoy kinky rep where the MCs aren’t the ‘typical’ type/body that is expected.

Once I had the food in front of him, I realized my mistake. Giving pasta and sauce to someone who regressed as far as Owen did was a recipe for disaster, especially since we didn’t have a change of clothes.

Why hadn’t he figured out how to read my mind? A real friend would have done it by now.
