Salt: A World History
by Mark Kurlansky
Uggg. I had to read this book over the summer in preparation for AP World History. Maybe the reason I found it so boring was because I had to do endless journal entries and vocabulary words for this book in addition to just reading it, but it really bored me. It is, in fact, a very thorough history that probably is much more interesting than I found it to be. For example, did you know that the term "salvation" often used by Christians relates to salt and who possessed it? It is a very good history to read if you would like to understand the general history behind major trade routes and the role salt has played in history since the beginning of time, but you have to be very devoted to the book to actually finish it.
