Yes, Flaubert gets a little long winded at times but I don't know if I've ever read anything so fascinating before! I really enjoyed the story of Emma Bovary with her conniving, selfish self. Oh, it was juicy from beginning to end and the films helped make the story even far more intriguing. It's a shame Flaubert received such negative publicity for writing something so damn good!
