Scrap Racism has a catchy title and is a quick and easy read. SCRAP is really an acronym for
S - Speak Up Against Racism
C - Call Up White People to Join
R - Rise Up with Sustained Resilience
A - Act Up
P - Pray Up
Scrap Racism is written by a Libyan pastor who migrated to American and now has a church in Minnesota. Like so many who grow up in predominantly black countries, Tabla talks about how he did understand or experience the type of racism that Black Americans have gone through until he got to America. He specifically cites his wife as saying such. Throughout the book, Tabla talks about the experiences with racism he and his predominately black church have experienced. However that's not really what Scrap Racism is about; what Scrap Racism is about is a called to action specifically to the evangelical white church. Scrap Racism was written really as a response to the death of George Floyd and all that ensued in the world because of the graphic and violent death that was publicized everywhere. It is not a scholarly work, nor a professionally edited one (there are a few formatting issues). While I didn't find Scrap Racism helpful for me, I did find the call to white Christian brothers and sisters sincere and deep.
