Since I really enjoyed Twin Crowns I was very excited to continue with Wren and Rose’s story. Definitely check this series out if you enjoy YA fantasy with a splash of romance! I finished it last night and here’s what I thought about it:

Things I did like:
- Tor. Always Tor 😏 *swoon* there’s something about the “he’s the captain to the royal guard” thing that just does it for me. The chemistry between him and Wren is immaculate.
- Without saying too much… there is some stuff in here that might appeal to the girlies who have a weak spot for morally gray villains 🫢👀 (aka me 🙋🏻‍♀️). I cannot wait to find out how this storyline will develop further in the final book! I just want to read it rn please 🥲
- We got to explore Gevra! It kind of feels like an evil Arendelle, very cool (pun not intended ❄️)
- I really liked that we got to know more about the OG twin queens and the that the mythical lore was mixing with the current story.
- The talking mirrors! Felt like something out of a Barbie movie 🤩
- Elske 🐺🩵

Things I didn’t like:
- Wren is still SO impulsive and naive at times, ugh I just wanted to slap some sense into that girl.
- Rowena. She’s such a loose cannon. It seems like she’s acting reckless just for the sake of being reckless. It’s annoying and she needs to be put in her place.
- I wasn’t a big fan of Shen in this one 🫣 he redeemed himself in the end but oof, he needed a stern talking-to.
- This is still very much YA. Which is okay, because that’s what I was expecting when I went into this series. It’s a lot of fun to read, but I do have to admit that sometimes I craved more maturity from the characters, writing style and plot. But that’s totally a me problem. I should probably just try to read more adult fantasy, but I’m scared to do that because I’m not one for heavy world-building and complicated magic systems and intricate political plot lines that need 1000% of my attention for me to understand it 🙈 I often just don’t have the mental energy for that 😂 which I why I always come back to ya fantasy.

Was there chemistry?
