Iris and Roman are rival journalists in a fantasy world where gods are at war. No one has quite seen exactly what is causing the situation, but people are dying as a result. The war scenes are inspired by World War I, and the gods are well-drawn. It ends on a cliffhanger, and thankfully this is only a duology.
