anyone else ever wanted to love an author because their book always sound exactly like something you would enjoy, but the actual reading experience just lacks something?

that’s is this author for me.
i love the ideas, the setting and the plot.
the writing is good.
but something always drags for me, makes the book too slow and just on the side of boring that i never actually enjoy my time reading it.

and i just don’t understand why?

the idea of fictionalizing a real horrific event? sounds great!
getting the inside and outside perfective?
yes please!
the setting? yes!
the idea of following the events of a group of people that where put together to control others by the government and how that works out? yes, sounds horrific but super interesting.

but i felt bored pretty much from the start.
i kept waiting for something to grip me but even though i liked the idea, it just dragged along for me.

oh well.
sadly not every book is for everyone
