This is an odious book with an odious main character. I absolutely despised reading this, and yet there was something that kept me there until the end. I think it was like watching someone you utterly despise die in a car crash - you just can't look away, and even if you feel a little sad or guilty, there's some kind of twisted pleasure in it. The ending I felt was tasteless, though. I'm not American and I honestly don't have any connection to 9/11 but dear god it just felt wrong, somehow, to have that. Like some kind of attempt at a shocker ending, but it just fell flat.
