when i started this and it begins with some kind of catholic priest trying to preach to africans about the religion without even bothering to learn their language and talking about them needing more culture in their lives with other music and foods, for a second i thought this book would not be a good one for me.

well turns out i am very wrong and i really enjoyed this!

the writing is fantastic even though it’s in letter format which i normally don’t connect with as strongly but it worked for this.

and i loved the characters, the plot and the different story aspects in this. mimi really enjoyed the hyena information and how that was woven into the story.

and even though this had an open ending, i enjoyed this a lot.

it  actually has this mixture of strangeness and horror combined with realism and fantastical elements in a way that sometimes it’s unclear what’s real and what’s not.
very well done.

one of the best -if not the best- in this entire collection.
