I love stories set on the water, so I decided to give this book a try even though I hadn't read earlier books on the series. Thankfully while there are references to earlier events and something of an ongoing arc, this was perfectly understandable on its own and honestly I had a great time with it. 

It's a horror novel but not scary, though there are moments of tension and one scene I found very creepy. It's a really fun, quick read, and while I wouldn't call it a comedy there were a couple of times I did laugh out loud. 

I really enjoyed this and intend to check out more books by the author.
