After Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes fell so short for me I was super hesitant to read this one. We’ve all been itching for Haymitch’s story for so long and we were finally getting it…. But would it live up to the hype?
I don’t think it lived up to the hype, I think it blew it out of the water.
I’m not one to get emotional over stories and characters and here I sit, wiping tears off my face while writing my review. My heart cracked after 22 pages, started breaking and crumbling apart over the next 300 pages until it completely shattered into irreparable pieces over the last 42 pages of the book… I knew his story would sad, I knew it would be tough to read, I just couldn’t imagine the absolute heartbreak that Suzanne Collins would deliver us.

The Hunger Games may forever be one of my favorite books, but Sunrise on the Reaping has just shot to the top of the list of books I will never forget.
