The Keeper of Happy Endings by Barbara Davis
5.0

Honestly, I haven’t felt like reading historical fiction lately, which is weird for me since I usually love it… especially WWII-era stories. With this book tour coming up, I kept delaying and thinking “oh I’ll just read one more book first because I just don’t feel like delving into history.” LET ME TELL YOU. I was stupid to wait. I binged this book and stayed up past midnight doing it (which is really late for me okay). I could not put it down.

The Keeper of Happy Endings beautifully weaves the lives of Soline Roussel, a bridal dressmaker from Paris, and Rory Grant, a woman trying to forge her own path amidst many familial expectations. Soline and Rory quickly find that their lives have many parallels and their relationship moves into a charming intergenerational friendship. Soline’s story is revealed through a dual timeline back into WWII-era Paris, and connects perfectly back to the present. I teared up about 3,028,184 times throughout this book and it was just a really perfect work of historical fiction. That last page…WHEW. I’M OUT OF MY HISTORICAL FICTION SLUMP. Now to go read Barbara’s backlist.

Thanks to Suzy Approved Book Tours and Barbara Davis for the copy of this book, bookmark, and door sign that will be very well used.
