The Last Housewife
by Ashley Winstead
I give The Last Housewife 5 out of 5 stars. The book held my attention from beginning to end. I did enjoy the book switching back and forth from the podcast/interview format in its chapters, to the normal story narration chapter format. If you plan to ever read the book, definitely check out the trigger/content warnings first. At first, when I read all the content warnings prior to reading, I thought maybe they might have been a bit dramatic, or that each warning would not have been as prevalent within the plot of the story; but they each appear throughout the book multiple times and the book definitely needed them all. Certain parts of the book were definitely more “graphic” than I was originally expecting (I think most people who like true crime would do better with those parts than those who don’t). There were twists throughout the book and the thought of one of the big reveals towards the end did cross my mind earlier in the book as a possibility that would end up happening; but even as a possibility that came to mind, I could not figure out HOW exactly it was going to happen. There was some foreshadowing, but not enough to really figure it out on your own in my opinion. Overall, it was a great thriller that I’d recommend.
