From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata
DID NOT FINISH: 12%

I stopped at 12% because the characters in this book are all adults, but act like absolute children! Mid-twenties into their thirties and none of them know how to do more than stick their tongues out at one another and call each other names.

Then I stared at him a second longer and thought, I’m going to spit in his mouth the first chance I get, and decided maybe the growing-up thing was a stretch. Luckily, all I decided to say was, “I do know what that’s like, shitface.”

Beyond that, the way the author chose to describe her characters was with clunky info dumps and odd descriptions.

“He’s out with his friends,” the redheaded woman who had given birth to me, explained quickly

His “ha!” made me get my middle finger ready. “Don’t even pretend. You used to always come home talking about him,” the five-foot-seven-inch man who had always been a perfect balance between a supportive older brother and an annoying pain in the ass with boundary issues claimed.

Ultimately, it was the completely mean spirited way the FMC described her brother that made me quit.
