The Sisters
by J.S. Ellis
I received a free copy of this short story from Prolific Works. (Update: I also received a free copy from Voracious Readers Only.) Free copies are also available to those who sign up for the author's newsletter on her website, here. Below is my honest review.
This is a quick read, taking a mere 15 minutes. Reading the synopsis, I was immediately turned off by the multiple grammatical and punctuational errors; however, I chose to read it anyway based on its length, believing I could still get a good grasp on the author's writing style. (I hope the author doesn't mind that I corrected the errors in the Goodreads synopsis, though these errors are still present in the Prolific Works and Amazon synopses.)
Evie has grown up in her elder sister Jenny's shadow. Typically, this would cause a rift between sisters, but the two appear to be very close. Confusingly close. Aged 24, Jenny has successful employment as a model and is dating an incredibly attractive musician named John. However, John is drawn to Evie from the first. The climax will take you by surprise, even if you think you've figured out how this quick tale ends.
