Storm and Fury
by Jennifer L. Armentrout
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 5 stars
Storm and Fury follows Trinity Marrow, who can see ghosts and spirits, which is unique. She’s been hiding her true identity for years while living with and being guarded by Wardens.
I was gifted this book by a friend somewhere in March and finally got around to read it. I had a feeling this was going to be a book I would binge read and wanted to be sure I could read the whole series in a short time instead of waiting for book 3 to come out. My feeling wasn’t wrong! I started this book, had a very hard time putting it down and finished it in no time.
While almost finishing this book, I found out it was a spin-off of The Darkest Elements Series, which I probably should’ve read first, but didn’t. Luckily things aren’t really spoiled yet, but I’ll probably finish that series before reading book 3 hihi.
I just loved the whole setting and world this story takes place in! The gargoyles, the demons, the angels everything! I was a bit confused by how the Wardens powers and everything worked, but maybe that’s because it’s explained more in the first series. Either way, it doesn’t feel like you missed out on information or world-building.
Trinity is such a strong and amazing character. She doesn’t need anyone and is just amazing in her own way. With a degenerative eye disease called RP, causing her to go blind slowly, she doesn’t let it define or hinder her in anyway. It is such a strong thing and so inspiring to read and see how Trinity goes about her life! I love how a disability was shown not as a flaw or weakness and doesn’t magically get better; they learn how to live with it. I also just loved Peanut. He was such a breath of fresh air and honestly, he was hilarious! All of the characters, Zayne, Roth, Cayman, Misha, everyone just has their own personality and are amazingly written. Zayne is kind, mysterious and funny! Since I didn’t know him yet, I’m curious to see how he is in the first series.
The romance was just to swoon! The attraction they immediately felt, the pinning, but not Insta-love! I loved how it was so obvious, but still didn’t really happen. It gradually grows stronger and stronger the more time they spent together. Also, their constant bickering is just hilarious and amazing to read.
The twists were amazingly written and while it didn’t come as a complete surprise, the ending, it was still shocking to read. The way little details are given, but not the whole picture makes you want to keep on reading. With the way the book ending, I believe the second book will be just like this one and I can’t wait to start reading it!
Overall, this book is just amazing with badass characters and an amazing plot. It has ton of action, great fighting scenes, humor and shocking twists!
