While I felt that the first book was more exciting (as I finished that in 2 days) this book was still good

Zelie and Amari have brought magic back to the maji. People we thought gone are still around. Zelie and Amari don't agree at all in this book. Amari is trying to come to terms with her new powers and wanting to take the throne away from her mother and Inan.
Zelie is trying to come to terms with being a leader and training the maji in their powers.

I can't wait for the 3rd installment because of the cliffhanger
