Two things:

There is a splendid in-joke in this novel, a Lemonheads song (and album title) that the author didn’t explicitly use:

“It’s a Shame About Ray”. (Quinn)
I think I am going to go listen to it now. That album was the soundtrack to my grad school days.

And two: I really don’t like Mary Kay.
