Although Pillars was clearly written by a thriller writer, it was perhaps one of the best historical/fantasy novels I have ever read. It was fast paced, breathtaking, and circled around vivid characters that nearly leaped from the pages. There was never a dull moment in all 900-some-odd pages of this book.
