meegzreads 's review for:
The Bourbon Kings
by J.R. Ward
I finally finished this goddamned book. I feel like this dragged on a bit in some parts - there were too many times it switched between characters, I would have liked for the sections with the individual characters to have been longer so it wasn't jumping around so much. I thought it was going to be more historical fiction that anything, but it's about an old fashioned rich family in the modern day. There certainly was a hell of a lot going on in this book and it takes a while to wrap your head around it all. That said though there are some great things at play here, crazy as they are, but hell, rich people might really be like that, who knows.
I think I'll still continue to read this, just to see how it unfolds, but if you choose to read the series be prepared to have to think properly to follow what's going on. This isn't one of those books you can just coast through.
