Best book I have read all year. Beautifully written. Maybe because of my Catholic upbringing, I struggle to relate to South Asian YA. This, on the other hand, felt like I was reading my own life. I also think this is a particularly important book for adult readers who survived abusive or traumatic Catholic moms. Acevedo offers a kind of redemptive hope that we may never experience in real life, but reading it in the character's experience was healing.
