Morning Glories Volume 4: Truants
by Nick Spencer
I really need to just read these in a row. Actually, with how many characters and how much shit happens I might not understand what is happening ANYWAY.
So is this one the cast of characters get larger. We find out they're on a mission to...kill the leader? Well kill the leader's son. But you're like "Wait I thought this was teenager story" and it is. But the adults do so much shady shit, that when the kids come in, and they shady, shit gets shadier...yeah. So everytime we get answer another question pops up. Right now we still don't know with all the time traveling and such who is dead and staying dead but we know who's hunting who. Least on the surface level.
Good: I still oddly find this series very captivating. Like Highly enjoyable despite not keeping up with what the fuck is happening. People dying, people betraying each other, but it still remains interesting. Also the art is getting better and the fights and big climax moments are hitting home.
Bad: WAY too many characters. It's hard to keep up (or care) with this many. Like you want to like them, but some look to similar, some look like the one you thought died, people dying but you forgot who they are. yeah, just jumble mess of way too much shit going on and feels like it's being stretched out.
Overall it's still fun and interesting but it's hard to stay attached to anyone in particular. Maybe cause everyone is a asshole but also the story is starting to test me just a bit on where the hell it's going.
