You Are Here
by Jennifer E. Smith
You Are Here was just what I needed to get me in the mood for summer! I knew that I would love this book because I really loved Jennifer E. Smith's other two YA contemporary books! She has become my all-time favorite contemporary author! I love how she writes books that are so unrealistic (meaning the romance between the characters would probably never happen in real life - I mean who would accidentally start emailing a celebrity and fall in love with them like in This Is What Happy Looks Like?) yet you find yourself loving her books anyway.
When I think of summer books I automatically think of books that have road trips! You Are Here is basically one big road trip, with bits of mystery and discovering who you really are.
The main characters Emma and Peter, shared POV chapters, alternating each chapter. I didn't know that there would be different POVs going into the book, but I really liked how I got to learn more about both of the characters, not just Emma, like I first thought. I liked reading from Emma's POV, and getting to learn all about her family, and how she felt like she didn't belong. When she learned that she had a twin brother that died only two days after they were born, the story got interesting and adventurous. Peter, Emma's neighbor joins in and I really liked learning about his life, too. I also really enjoyed how the two found out that they had a lot more in common than they first thought.
Overall, You Are Here was a great coming of age book about finding out who you really are! Perfect book for summer that is super quick, but not lacking at all in the story department! I'd definitely recommend it for fans of contemporary.
