Beautiful Beast by Devyn Sinclair
4.0

I really enjoyed this but I knocked a star off because I felt like it moved a bit too fast. I think it should have either been longer or there should have been less in this book.

Lena is great; I love it when her personality comes out rather than just the careful princess. Endre, Sirrius and Zovai are fantastic too. Sirrius and Zovai started mixing together for me a little bit but that’s probably because I was reading so fast. I seriously could not slow down, it was so good.

I love the side characters and we better get more of them. Specifically Varí, Idroal, Belleo, Taia and hopefully Helena. Varí is my favourite, I’m a sucker for an adorable sidekick.

With the pacing: I thought in moved slightly too fast. Not necessarily the scenes but the relationship. It felt like things were being skipped over. I still really enjoyed it but (very weirdly for me because I am ridiculously impatient) I wanted more of a slow burn. I know this is the most slow burn-y of Devyn’s books but I think it needed more. Not percentage wise but page count wise, I think the whole book should have been longer. While I don’t know where the series is going, I think maybe this book should have been 1 and a bit of the next instead of 1 book.

ALSO BE AWARE THIS IS NOT A STANDALONE!! IT IS A SERIES SERIES NOT A SERIES OF STANDALONES!

I was not expecting that tbh, and I am so excited for a new series.

If this review reads weirdly, it’s because it’s just after 1 am and I have had a really long day but could not stop reading.
