I devoured Ashes..

It is written in a way that you almost don't realise how quickly you're making it through the book, the chapters are short and easy to read.

The plot is simple to understand and Alex's telling of it doesn't mix words around. She tells it as it is, blood and teeth scattered across the ground, entrails being sucked like spagetti, eyeballs being popped out and eaten...it's almost refreshing in a gruesome and 'thank god it's only a story way'.

I do agree with other reviews in that the book is separated into two different parts, there is the fast paced half with Alex travelling with Ellie and Tom and then the second half when she finds the Amish like town with strict rules and regulations and with people who are very unlikable.

The ending of the book, for me, was great. It made me gasp out loud and unfortunately for me, I had read Ashes shortly after its publication, meaning I was rocking back and forth in anticipation for a whole year before Shadows..

It is a good book...and besides how can you not like a book where dogs are the best things to have by your side!
