I don't normally read straight romance, but the synopsis on NetGalley hooked me. I really enjoyed the characters and the relationships in this novel. The backstories and characterization had more depth and dimension than most romance (mystery or paranomal or otherwise) that I've read, which was an extremely pleasant surprise.

This is a 'slow burn' story, which is much more my cup of tea than the alternative (passion inferno? fiery pit of lust?), and indeed, there are no 'quivering pleasure centres' or 'throbbing members' to distract from the emotional connection between the characters.

As a non-romance reader, this was an incredibly enjoyable love story. The perfect escapist book to lose yourself in.
