This was NOT what I expected, but I loved it! The book has adventure, self growth, and action. The story is not one I've read before, but absolutely want to read more. Horror romance is new for me, but I love it. Gwen is portrayed in a way that I really felt connected to her and her thoughts, what made her her. There were quirks written by the author that I enjoyed reading because she made them seem normal and not out of place, which I wish more authors did. Ambrosius is terrifying, but freeing. There's so much more to say, but it would be spoiling the book!! Just know that it takes awhile to warm up to him, but worth it in the end.
