The Girl from Widow Hills
by Megan Miranda
Thank you to Simon & Schuster for the ARC!
This book was just what I needed. A quick, engaging read with lots of twists and turns. I started reading it at around midnight last night, and finished it this afternoon.
The Girl from Widow Hills is Olivia Meyer, or Arden Maynor, as she used to be known. Arden's name is known around the country as the girl who survived in the drainage system of her small town after being swept away while sleepwalking during a heavy rainstorm.
Olivia has grown up and moved away, escaping her past and her mother, who overdosed on drugs after the media attention of Arden's survival became too much. Olivia has a nice, but quiet, life set up for herself in a small town where no one knows her. And she thinks that she's successfully escaped her past until it shows up in her yard in the form of a dead man.
I haven't read any other of Miranda's books, but I really enjoyed this one! It was definitely a quick read, and very engaging. I thought I had everything figured out, but I was definitely surprised by the end! I would recommend this as a good beach book, but it's just as good reading it on your balcony :D
