Emily Wilde's Encyclopaedia of Faeries by Heather Fawcett

adventurous dark funny lighthearted medium-paced

5.0

This is one of those books that you curl up with under a blanket, or in the sunshine in the garden, and just fall into. It’s so incredibly cozy, wholesome, and funny. It’s a joy to take a trip through, and the characters are incredibly loveable.

I really enjoy the way the fae are portrayed in this book, and the way they are studied and written about. They are very nonsensical, dark, yet whimsical, dangerous but enchanting — which I LOVE. I also enjoyed the academic and straightforward way that the main character describes these creatures and her interactions with them.

This book is like a spring picnic set in the middle of winter, such fun, and so joyful. Definitely a comfort read you’ll pick back up when you need it. I can’t wait to read the next one.
