Hello, Sunshine
by Laura Dave
Cooking show, girl-next-door Sunshine Mackenzie is about to have her whole world turned upside down. A hacker blows the lid off of her origin story and suddenly she goes from social media sweetheart to persona non-grata. She goes from sleeping on her luxury sheets to her sister's couch in the blink of an eye.
Returning to her childhood home forces her to confront the stormy relationship with her sister and gives Sunshine the opportunity to rediscover the self the left behind. Along the way we meet Evan the fisherman of the rich and famous, Sammy the gifted and precocious niece, and Chef Z who just has to be read to be described.
Although this book was as quick and enjoyable read, it didn't quite match the depth and heart-warming vibe of Dave's previous book, 800 Grapes. So read Hello, Sunshine while you are in the beach this summer and then curl up and treat yourself to 800 Grapes as you plan your trip to wine country.
Thank you to Simon & Schuster for an advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
