EDIT 08/07/2021: I'm rereading this currently to finish the series but I want to add a note that when I originally purchased and reviewed this, I had no idea about Rainbow Rowell's problematic behaviour. As a result, I am removing my rating and I DO NOT RECOMMEND this series, or anything else by the author. I won't comment on Rainbow Rowell's behaviour specifically as it's not my place as a white woman but there are lots of detailed posts about it only a quick search away.

A bookseller recc’d this book to me as ‘it’s Half Blood Prince, but gay’. I’ve been a shameless drarry shipper for years, and it was my gateway ship into fanfiction, so I was so excited to read this one. Since then, I’ve given my paperback copy to two different people to get them to read it too, which has kind of been annoying because I want to read it again.

- Interesting and unique magic system
- Gripping, twisty plot
