Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! This book is just a big ole YES!
I definitely will be telling everyone I know to read it!
The crux of the story lies between the FMC, who is a brilliant doctor/scientist/researcher, and the MMC, who is a deadly, ruthless, but handsome assassin. He needs everyone to know exactly how seductive he is. It is mandatory. Guess who does not see or acknowledge it? YUP! The FMC. This is just the tip of their angsty, bitter iceberg. And yes, it is an iceberg, a weighty, bedrock of constant, witty, hilarious banter.
I laughed out loud so many times while reading this. These two going after each other was enchanting. They are in the midst of a slow burn, but it is very slow, however that tension, the back and forth, it is delectable. I ate it up and craved more.

What also made this an absolutely enjoyable read was the mystery and story line built around these two. You could feel the threads knitting together and being used to tie them closer and closer.
The world building is fascinating, with a mix of magic and technology. And those side characters, unforgettable. There are so many interesting side quests and characters here. Each chapter just keeps calling you back to read more and more.

Brigitte Knightley has me infatuated with her writing.
This is the kind of book you read when you need joy and spicy banter in your life. A pick me up book. One that will slay sadness and bring you cheer, no matter what is going on around you.
I really hope this is just the beginning of a wide ranging set of books within this world. Maybe a duology per couple, because it feels as though there are many secrets and stories just waiting to be devoured in here.
