This is not the sort of book I enjoy reading, but it’s a very good one.
Hummingbird Salamander is a noir-detective fever dream in which the protagonist suffers and spirals along with the world itself, betrays and is betrayed, and discovers unbelievable things, a few of which are true. I would not recommend it to myself or readers like me—I do not find first-person narratives of direly stressful situations enjoyable, and only the fact that it was text and not audio made it tolerable—but if you ever wished [b:Foucault’s Pendulum|17841|Foucault's Pendulum|Umberto Eco|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1396645125l/17841._SY75_.jpg|11221066] had lots more techno-spycraft and a body count to rival John Wick’s... hoo boy, have ever I got a book for you.
