Breaking the Rules by H.B. Heinzer
4.0

4.5 stars

The storyline of Breaking The Rules runs parallel to Bent (Julia and Micah's story), and it is good to get more of the background of their story and relationship.

Carly and Julia were best friends in highschool, and were the two girls in their class who couldn't wait to leave small town Wisconsin for bigger and better things. Adam is Julia's annoying younger brother who has always had a thing for Carly.

A chance encounter brings them together, and from their friendship grows something stronger than either of them ever thought.

What I like about HB Heinzer's characters is that they are not perfect, they have their flaws. Carly is damaged, thinks she is not enough for Adam. Adam is not the "alpha" that we get in so many other books these days - not saying he isn't hot - he is - but he is not the super perfect guy. He has is kookier side (turning up dressed to impress, wearing green Chucks!)

I laughed, I teared up, I got frustrated beyond all belief (hello, these people are in their 30's, why were they so worried about another 30 year old's feelings when it was coming between them grr grr!!)

Can Carly and Adam overcome the hurdles and have their HEA?

You will have to read it to find out!!!

I enjoyed this more than I did Bent, and I look forward to more in the Back to Brooklyn series
