Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis
2.0

I loved parts of this book from a motivational and “real”/raw standpoint. Rachel is open, vulnerable, and encouraging. She achieves her goal of wanting to empower women. But, I felt that as a Christian book, the focus was on what YOU can do through your own strength versus how God works in your life. Not that we shouldn’t do things for ourselves, but the whole mantra was YOU are in control of your life and can change everything / make all the decisions, when really, as Christians we believe that while we can make decisions and changes, God is ultimately in control.

I also really disliked that she mentioned that they decided to adopt through foster care. The purpose of foster care is NOT adoption... the goal is to reunite kids with their families. By saying how upset she was that a birth father took “her kids” back when he decided to parent is not okay. They were not her kids, even if the social worker mentioned that the kids would likely be available for adoption.
