Like a Sister
by Kellye Garrett
dark
mysterious
medium-paced
A dead reality TV star, a NYC setting and an estranged half sister on the search for answers made up a combination that I could never resist. I’m not always a fan of an amateur sleuth but when it’s done well, I can get behind it and it was done really well here. Lena was the kind of character that I was immediately drawn to, her wit and humor was incredible and she’s also bound and determined to find out what happened to her sister no matter who gets in her way. Part of the reason I was so invested in her was definitely due to the fantastic narration in the audio version, I had planned on alternating between print and audio but Bahni Turpin was so engaging I stuck with audio. I would say this one was twisty in a clever way, no twists just for the sake of being twisty, each turn added value to the story and I always appreciate a smart thriller. Definitely recommended by me especially if you want a thriller that feels fresh.
